Year 5 - Voice for Change

Year 5 have been using the power of their one voice for change!

Our topic this term has been '"The power of One." After learning about many significant people through history who have used their voice to bring positive change, we researched endangered animals in Science. We learnt about a variety of critically endangered animals and took a vote, based on the ones who are desperately in need of funding. This led to an appeal to help protect mountain gorillas. We learnt all about mountain gorillas, and created placards to educate others. We then planned ways to raise money which included an ice lolly stall, second hand toy stall and a surprise addition of flumps!  We were aiming to help one gorilla for a year, it has absolutely blown our socks off to find ourselves in a position to fund 6 mountain gorillas! Thank you so much to everyone in our school community who so generously supported us, and for teaching us that hand in hand together we can! We are now excited to think about all the positive ways we can use our one voice to help in this world!
