Astronaut Soup

Year 5 had a great day making our soup for an astronaut and discussing healthy habits!

This term, Year 5 has embarked on an exciting journey into the world of astronauts and their dietary needs! We’ve been studying what it takes to maintain a healthy diet while living on the International Space Station. The children have developed a healthy food plate tailored to an astronaut’s nutritional requirements, ensuring they stay fit and healthy in space.

Building on our work about Tim Peake, we explored how astronauts exercise and what foods they consume to keep their bodies strong. As part of our practical learning, the class made delicious leek and potato soup, which not only tasted great but also reinforced our understanding of healthy ingredients.

To showcase their IT skills, the children wrote up the instructions for the soup, demonstrating their ability to communicate effectively. It’s been a fantastic learning experience, blending science, cooking, and technology!
