A Wonderful Visit to Forage

Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Forage, where they learned all about its inspiring Field to Fork ethos.

The children had a brilliant opportunity to hear from Huw Evans, who spoke about bees and led a tasting of Penllyn Estate honey. They also listened to a butcher talk about meat and where it comes from, which helped them understand food production more deeply. As part of their learning, the class explored different types of grain and discussed what each is harvested for.

A real highlight was comparing old-fashioned farming methods, such as flailing, with the modern combine. The children even had a go and climbed into the combine, making the experience both memorable and hands-on.
