Wow what a very busy half term we’ve had in Bedwen. We jumped into our new topic ‘The Power of One’ dressing up and made a delicious vegetable stir fry, which is now everyone’s favourite meal!
We enjoyed celebrating VE day with a live assembly and sang war time songs. In the afternoon we were treated to a picnic of scones in the sunshine kindly provided by the PTA.
As part of our topic ‘The Power of One’ we have been thinking about people who have made a difference in the world and thought about the difference we could make. After researching animals on the critically endangered list, we chose to raise money and awareness to sponsor a gorilla. We wrote songs to educate people on which animals need help and how we can protect them and made colourful banners to display at our fundraising event. Last Friday we had a sale after school selling ice lollies and our preloved toys. We raised an incredible £223 which means we can help 6 endangered gorillas! Our perseverance, teamwork and commitment showed us how the power of one voice can make a change.
We have also been creative, designing and making passport holders from felt. We loved having our Mums and Grans in class helping us with our sewing. We are now looking forward to displaying our creativity through our upcoming dance performance in Cardiff next month.
